Magic Key Updates! - Disneyland Resort

Disneyland Resort Drops Magic Key No-Shows and Adds Same-Day Reservation Modifications

The Disneyland Resort continues to listen to Magic Key holders and modify the program based on that feedback. In an email sent to Magic Key holders today by Disneyland Resort president Jill Estorino, two major changes were announced for the program. Both of these changes will go into effect on October 7, 2026.

No More No-Show Penalty

Estorino shared that the Magic Key no-show policy is being dropped. Magic Key holders will no longer have to race into the park before the day is done when they forgot they had reservations. With the old policy, three no-shows within 90 days led to a Magic Key holder being unable to make new reservations for 30 days. This policy was often viewed as stressful and punitive by Magic Key holders. Starting on October 7th, the unpopular policy will no longer be in effect.

Same-Day Reservation Modifications

On October 7th, Magic Key holders will also be able to make same-day modifications to their reservations. This will be able to be done any time during the day of a reservation for their Magic Key. By changing or canceling a reservation, Magic Key holders will be opening up capacity for others who may want to visit on the same day.

Jill Estorino noted that reservations will still be required moving forward. She added, “We ask that you please modify or cancel your reservation if your plans change so we can offer that availability to other Guests.”

A Focus on Appreciation

The email that was sent to Magic Key holders also opened and closed with appreciation. At the beginning of the email, Estorino said, “I’ve been so inspired by the fans who call this place home. Your love for Disneyland®, your traditions, your feedback and your passion mean so much to us, and I want to thank you for being our most loyal supporters.”

As the email began to wrap up, this focus on gratitude returned. She said, “We also continue to look for opportunities to show our appreciation for you. We are currently including a Disney Dining Card with all Magic Key renewals through May 26, 2027, and we’re excited for our new “Iconic Disneyland®” Extras Unlocked offerings coming in 2027.”

These extras, coupled with no changes to the prices of Magic Keys this year, show tangible ways that the Disneyland Resort is showing gratitude to this core group of Disney fans. The dining card is reminiscent of the renewal discount and other perks that were given to Annual Passholder years ago. Details about the “Iconic Disneyland” Extras Unlocked haven’t been revealed yet. However, they could be like other things that the Disneyland Resort has offered through the years, like special exclusive events, after-hour parties, or Long Lost Friends Week. Recently, Magic Key holders have been given magnets in the mail and gifts when visiting the parks, including a popular license plate holder.

Next year will also see the return of fan-favorite entertainment including Remember… Dreams Come True, the Magic Happens parade, and the original World of Color. These popular entertainment offerings mark a step towards larger entertainment offerings by the Disneyland Resort once again. This has been something that Magic Key holders have also been clamoring for. Other entertainment requests often made by Magic Key holders revolve around fixing the dragon for Fantasmic! and putting on a show in the Hyperion Theater.

Hello from the Disneyland® Resort!

Seven months into my role as president, I’ve been so inspired by the fans who call this place home. Your love for Disneyland®, your traditions, your feedback and your passion mean so much to us, and I want to thank you for being our most loyal supporters.

As you know better than anyone else, Disneyland® is much more than a place. It’s an idea that became an icon known around the world. Over 70 years later, we’re still bringing Walt’s vision to life every day, making the kind of magic he dreamed would inspire generations of Guests.

And I want you to know that we’re listening — your insights, ideas and experiences matter. You help us improve the experience for our Guests as we imagine our future while honoring our past.

That’s why I’m excited to share that starting tomorrow,
October 7, 2026:• We will remove the Magic Key no-show penalty• You will be able to modify or cancel your Park reservation up until 11:59 p.m. PT on the day of your reserved date, providing you with more flexibility
Park reservations will still be required to help us prepare for each day, and we ask that you please modify or cancel your reservation if your plans change so we can offer that availability to other Guests.

We also continue to look for opportunities to show our appreciation for you. We are currently including a Disney Dining Card with all Magic Key renewals through May 26, 2027, and we’re excited for our new “Iconic Disneyland®” Extras Unlocked offerings coming in 2027.

Next year will be special with the return of some of your favorite entertainment offerings: “Remember… Dreams Come True” and the original “World of Color” nighttime spectaculars, and the “Magic Happens” parade — I can’t wait!

Thank you for making us a part of your story. We look forward to creating even more memories with you in the years ahead.

With gratitude,

Jill

I have not received that email. I’ve been a Magic Key holder for many years. My husband also didn’t get the email. We checked our email preferences and we are subscribed to emails from all Disney departments.
