It is an exciting week for Disney Cruise Line fans. Members of the media and creators are currently aboard the Disney Wish and discovering details about the next ship to join the Disney Cruise Line fleet. This ship, the Disney Believe, will be joining the fleet in late 2027. The ship is being built one gigablock at a time, with there being three in total. It recently celebrated an important milestone in its construction with a keel-laying ceremony. Today, the Disney Cruise Line introduced the opening cruise director for the Disney Believe.

The first cruise director for the Disney Believe will be Trent Hitchcock. In the role of cruise director, he will be responsible for overseeing the entertainment, youth activities, and recreation that are offered aboard the Disney Believe. In the coming year before the ship makes its maiden voyage, Trent will be working with Disney Cruise Line teams to make preparations to bring these key elements to life for guests when they board the ship next year.

About Trent Hitchcock
Trent Hitchcock has been working for the Disney Cruise Line for nearly two decades. For 10 of these years, he has been a cruise director. This included being part of the opening team for the Disney Destiny. He has worked on almost every ship in the fleet, other than the Disney Adventure. He shared, “My ship bingo card is almost full!”
Trent and a team of over 200 crew members work to ensure that guests of all ages enjoy a variety of offerings that they can participate in while on board the Disney Believe. This includes deck parties, fireworks at sea, events, activities, recreation, Port Adventure, and the Disney Cruise Line’s incredible Broadway-style shows.
He shared what he enjoys most about the cruise director role, saying, “The pride I get every day waking up knowing that I get to lead an incredible entertainment operation aboard the ship, and the enjoyment I see in every guest that comes on board to experience our storytelling. And when you get to see that through your own children’s eyes, that’s the best part.”

Disney Believe
The Disney Believe still has more than a year before it joins the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Already, Trent is making ready for this new role. He said that “initial conversations for me begin around a year out when we start talking and developing from an entertainment perspective.”
This will see him head to Papenburg, Germany, next year. This is where the Disney Believe is being built at the Meyer Werft Shipyard. He will be on board the ship for its maiden voyage and into its inaugural season, Disney shared. He said he can’t wait to see the ship for the first time. This is particularly exciting as it will be the first time he will be working so closely with a ship from the very beginning.
“Bringing a new ship to life is a special time and being the opening cruise director to close the Wish class is an honor and a privilege,” Trent said. “I can’t wait to share the Disney Believe with all our guests.”
