This last week, Disney CEO Bob Iger shared on Disney’s annual shareholder virtual meeting that there is a strong slate of movies from the company. Since returning to The Walt Disney Company as the CEO, Iger has said multiple times that the company is focusing on quality content over quantity. He has also stressed the importance to the company of creativity. On top of all of that, he has said that he has been focused on what is coming out of Disney’s various studios. With all that in mind, it is no surprise that Disneys’ release schedule would be updated now and then. Disney has released an updated slate of movies and their current schedules for the coming years as they are known in April 2024.
Looking Forward
This new schedule of movie releases has some interesting things in the not-so-distant future. While there really aren’t any surprises in this year’s release schedule, there were some interesting movies to note beyond that. This includes the news that Toy Story 5 will now be arriving on June 19, 2026. The live-action Moana with Dwayne Johnson in it will be pushed back a year to 2026 as well on July 10. The Mandalorian & Grogu also will be arriving on May 22, 2026. This will be the next Star Wars movies to grace the silver screens and will be directed by John Favreau. It will also star Pedro Pascal. It won’t be the only Star Wars film released in 2026, however. An untitled Star Wars film is on the schedule. This could be one of several other Star Wars films that are currently being worked on including one focused on Rey, or one focused on the origin of the Force, or perhaps even Patty Jenkin’s Rogue Squadron.
In 2025, it is now known that the Jared Leto film, Tron: Ares will be hitting theaters on October 10. This will come after Disney’s Snow White hits theaters on March 21, 2025. The schedule also shows upcoming movies from Marvel Studios, Pixar, and also the continuation of the Avatar franchise. Take a look at all that is currently scheduled to be coming below!
