Recently, Daps Magic has been noticing the disappearance of penny press machines around the Disneyland Resort. Earlier this week, a large number of the penny presses had been removed from the parks, Downtown Disney District, and Disneyland Resort hotels. Only a handful of them remained by mid-week. On Friday, the trend of disappearance was observed to be reversing.
New penny press machines were found by a friend of Daps Magic, Spencer, at the Disneyland Resort. He first discovered a brand-new penny press, complete with a digital interface, in the it’s a small world Toy Shop at the exit of the beloved attraction. The new penny press machine asks the question, “Would you like all 8 designs for only $5? Or just 1 for $1?” There is no crank on these penny press machines, but the mechanism to press the pennies can be seen.
Spencer ultimately found two of the new penny press machines during his explorations of the Disneyland Resort on Friday. One was in the it’s a small world Toy Shop, and the other at the exit of Space Mountain. The second didn’t appear to be completely installed yet. Photos of these machines can be seen below.
The arrival of these updated penny press machines at the Disneyland Resort follows a recent update of the Walt Disney World Resort penny press machines this summer. The next generation of these machines will ensure that these fun souvenirs are available for the next generation of Disney fans and collectors.
