It’s Time to Meet The Muppets of “The Muppets Mayhem”

On May 10, 2023, The Muppets Mayhem will be arriving for all to see and enjoy on Disney+. This new series shows The Electric Mayhem on a quest to make their first album after touring for decades. In short, this series is a blast that is a must-see for anyone who already is a fan of The Muppets or who is even remotely interested in them (read my review here).

Ahead of the arrival of The Muppets Mayhem on Disney+, Daps Magic was given the opportunity to chat with the members of The Electric Mayhem and get to know them a little bit. In an interview that was quite simply a joy to experience, Dr. Teeth, Janice, Floyd Pepper, Zoot, Animal, and Lips share their experience making The Muppets Mayhem and more.

There were a few things that I noticed before, during, and after this interview. First off, The Electric Mayhem has a blast together. This was something that I noticed when reviewing The Muppets Mayhem as well. Each of the members of the band and cast seem to genuinely enjoy being together and creating together and it shines through the screen (whether the series on Disney+ or through a Zoom screen for this interview). Along with this, both the band and the series felt right. They have brought back the spirit and feel of what I love most about The Muppets through the years. While this is a new story that focuses on characters that usually aren’t central in Muppet movies or tv shows, it still has that feel of different people coming together to create something that is special and positive. The result is that the viewer feels uplifted and happy while watching, not to mention amused by the hilarious moments they create. Finally, these characters are all endearing. Watching the series and then interviewing the band I found myself genuinely liking them and wishing for their success. I sincerely hope that there is more in the future for The Electric Mayhem, whether on Disney+, live performances, or something completely different! I also hope this will be accompanied by the opportunity to interview them (and other Muppets) as well. They are an absolute joy! And with all of that, enjoy my interview with The Electric Mayhem about The Muppets Mayhem.

The Muppets Mayhem Official Description

“The Muppets Mayhem” follows The Electric Mayhem Band — Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Animal on drums, Floyd Pepper on vocals and bass, Janice on vocals and lead guitar, Zoot on saxophone and Lips on trumpet — on an epic, music-filled journey to record their first-ever studio album. With the help of a driven young music executive, Nora Singh (Singh), the old-school Muppet band comes face-to-face with the current day music scene as they try to finally record their first studio album.

“The Muppets Mayhem” stars Lilly Singh (“A Little Late with Lilly Singh”) as Nora, Tahj Mowry (“Baby Daddy”) as Moog, Saara Chaudry (“The Mysterious Benedict Society”) as Hannah, Bill Barretta as Dr. Teeth, Dave Goelz as Zoot, Eric Jacobson as Animal, Peter Linz as Lips, David Rudman as Janice, Matt Vogel as Floyd Pepper and recurring guest star Anders Holm (“Workaholics”) as JJ.

Based on characters created by Jim Henson, the series is developed and written by executive producers Adam F. Goldberg (“The Goldbergs”), Bill Barretta (“The Muppets,” “Muppets Haunted Mansion”) and co-executive producer Jeff Yorkes. Michael Bostick, Kris Eber and The Muppets Studio’s David Lightbody and Leigh Slaughter also serve as executive producers. Original music by executive music producer and Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee Linda Perry.
