The first teaser has been released for the next outing of The Muppets along with a debut date. The series, The Muppets Mayhem will be debuting on Disney+ on May 10, 2023. On that day, all episodes of the series will be arriving on Disney’s streaming service. Along with the teaser for The Muppets Mayhem, a poster was also revealed for the series.

“The Muppets Mayhem” follows The Electric Mayhem Band — Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Animal on drums, Floyd Pepper on vocals and bass, Janice on vocals and lead guitar, Zoot on saxophone and Lips on trumpet — on an epic, music-filled journey to record their first-ever studio album. With the help of a driven young music executive, Nora Singh (Singh), the old-school Muppet band comes face-to-face with the current day music scene as they try to finally record their first studio album.
“The Muppets Mayhem” stars Lilly Singh (“A Little Late with Lilly Singh”) as Nora, Tahj Mowry (“Baby Daddy”) as Moog, Saara Chaudry (“The Mysterious Benedict Society”) as Hannah, Bill Barretta as Dr. Teeth, Dave Goelz as Zoot, Eric Jacobson as Animal, Peter Linz as Lips, David Rudman as Janice, Matt Vogel as Floyd Pepper and recurring guest star Anders Holm (“Workaholics”) as JJ.
Based on characters created by Jim Henson, the series is developed and written by executive producers Adam F. Goldberg (“The Goldbergs”), Bill Barretta (“The Muppets,” “Muppets Haunted Mansion”) and co-executive producer Jeff Yorkes. Michael Bostick, Kris Eber and The Muppets Studio’s David Lightbody and Leigh Slaughter also serve as executive producers. Original music by executive music producer and Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee Linda Perry.
So What Do You Think?
While this trailer does not give a HUGE look at what we’ll be seeing of Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem in The Muppets Mayhem, it does give a feel of what is to come… and it is awesome! This looks like it will be a completely unique approach to The Muppets that is also is rooted in some of the core principles of The Muppets. What I mean by that is that this might be a completely new story, it still seems to be a story about a bunch of different Muppets/people coming together to create something that makes people happy. For me, this is when The Muppets are at their best.
As I watch this teaser I’m also reminded of a couple of teases we got for this series at last year’s D23 Expo. This included seeing Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem perform Can You Picture That? on the big stage. Then later seeing Animal go diving into the crowd during a panel specifically focused on The Muppets Mayhem on the D23 Expo main floor. These both gave a preview of the mayhem that will hopefully be seen on May 10!
