No Genie+ or Lightning Lane Needed to Meet Disney Characters When Traditional Interactions Return to Disneyland Resort

When traditional meet and greets with Disney characters return to the Disneyland Resort next week, Genie+ will not be something that is needed to meet them. Disneyland officials have stated that it currently does not plan to use Genie+ or Lightning Lane in conjunction with character interactions.

The news comes just days ahead of traditional meet and greets returning to the Disneyland Resort. These will return for the first time since the Disneyland Resort parks closed in 2020 this coming Monday, April 18, 2022. This is one more step in the phased reopening of the Disneyland Resort. It comes nearly a year after the parks reopened. Since the parks reopened, the characters at the resort have been kept 6 feet away from guests.

Meeting Mickey Mouse and friends have been a popular experience for guests visiting their favorite Disney park. Getting a photo and meeting a favorite Disney, Marvel, Pixar, or Star Wars character can often be a “must-do activity” for guests visiting the Disneyland Resort.

What character are you most looking forward to meeting up close again at the Disneyland Resort? What do you think of the return of traditional character interactions? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
