Since Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, guests have been rope dropping the park for a chance to get on the attraction. Even Mr. DAPS and Murray have faced the struggle of trying to get to the park in time! This morning, Walt Disney World announced that you will no longer need to be in the park to reserve your spot in the virtual queue!
While you don’t have to physically be in the park, you will have to have a valid ticket or annual pass and a Disney Park Pass reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The boarding groups will open at 7 a.m. and you will able to access the process from your My Disney Experience app! If you don’t get your boarding group in the morning, the virtual queue will reopen at 2 p.m. and you can try again! You will have to physically be in the park to access the afternoon process.
I think this is a fantastic change and I hope it stays through the future. This makes mornings even easier for guests at the Walt Disney World Resort as they won’t have to fight transportation or general tiredness to be at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for rope drop. I would love to see this come to Disneyland Park when they eventually reopen, especially the second wave of boarding groups in the afternoon!
