Downtown Disney District - Disneyland Resort

Rainforest Cafe Wants to Return to the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort

The Rainforest Cafe wants to return to the Disneyland Resort. The corporate owner, Landry’s, has expressed interest in bringing the Rainforest Cafe back to its former home in the Downtown Disney District. It was closed earlier this year to make room for a new hotel that was to be built in the general area. However, Disney announced recently that this hotel project had been canceled.

Since the cancellation of the hotel, there has been much speculation about what will fill the vacated establishments in Downtown Disney. Already the Earl of Sandwich has returned to its former home.

Keith Beitler, Landry’s senior vice president and chief operating officer of specialty restaurant and amusement divisions said, “Disney knows of our interest in reopening Rainforest Cafe in Anaheim. We are hopeful they will consider Landry’s for any future site plans.” Disney has said they are looking at different options for the Downtown Disney District openings. They didn’t comment specifically on this one.

Other vacated locations include the former home of ESPN Zone, AMC Theaters, and Starbucks. None of these businesses currently appear to be returning.
