On Monday, June 8, 2026, in the afternoon, an earthquake in Cuba was felt at Walt Disney World Resort. The earthquake took place in Cuba at approximately 2:00 PM and was felt in Florida shortly after. It was a 6.4 earthquake that was centered off the coast of Cuba in Mantuba.
The quake did not lead to a tsunami warning, advisory, watch, or threat for any of the areas that were affected. It did lead to some shattered nerves and plenty of posts on social media, however. Multiple attractions were seen to be closed at Walt Disney World Resort after the quake. While this is more common at Disneyland Resort in California, it is very uncommon at Walt Disney World Resort. All attractions that closed after the quake were reopened later in the day. There were no reported injuries at Walt Disney World Resort.
As is always the case, Disney is focused on the safety of its guests and cast members. If it had any reason to believe that there was cause for concern, Disney would adjust its operations. Daps Magic will continue to monitor this story and provide any updates that might develop.
