This month, the Plaza Gardens Restaurant at Disneyland Paris closed for a major refurbishment. This refurbishment will see the restaurant closed for the rest of the year and reopening in 2027. Disneyland Paris shared the news about this renovation on its 34th anniversary on Sunday, along with quite a few other announcements. The renovation will refresh the guest experience, Disneyland Paris shared, while also preserving the charm of the iconic Victorian restaurant on Main Street, USA.
In the coming months, the Plaza Gardens Restaurant will be completely renovated. This will include a complete overhaul of the flooring, the facades, and the roof. Both the front of house and kitchen will be modernized and receive a refreshed color palette that will bring a new Victorian spirit while retaining its classic style. These updates will be seen and experienced on the exterior facade and also the interior spaces. Disneyland Paris says that ultimately it will also elevate the guest experience when it reopens.
“As this renovation spans a considerable length of time, we are committed to creating changes that are visible to guests without betraying the original story of Plaza Gardens Restaurant,” explains Stéphanie Bohnhoff, Principal Show Designer at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris. “To further root the restaurant in a lush, verdant atmosphere connected to the gardens outside, we have selected new shades of green celebrating the different seasons.”
When the Plaza Gardens Restaurant reopens, guests will be able to discover beautifully renovated interiors that feature vibrant colors and carefully chosen materials to highlight the unique elegance of the restaurant. There will be a new pastel green tiling that will complement the new dark green carpet with floral motifs. In the dining room, guests will be able to experience a new layout that accommodates 291 chairs (most of which are being completely reupholstered) and 40 banquettes. These are being redesigned with the comfort of guests in mind.
The buffet area will also be getting its decorations transformed. There will be additional themed carved wooden elements added along with layout changes. This will see a lower-height buffet to help children, along with new furniture for breakfast. The goal of this is to make it more welcoming for families and younger guests.
Great care is being given to every detail of the restaurant, Disneyland Paris shared. This includes the carefully restored stained-glass canopies and repositioned decorative accessories. All of the changes are being given plenty of consideration so that they preserve the essence of the restaurant. Even the lighting is being given special attention. Fixtures are being fully refurbished to restore the lustre of bronze and brass metalwork. Modern LED technology will ensure a warm and sustainable ambience inside the restaurant.
When Plaza Gardens Restaurant reopens in 2027, it will again offer a charming and carefully crafted theme that is full of elegant Victorian charm. Disney and Paris shared that more details will be released in the coming months.
