On this day in 1941, Elias Disney, father of Walt and Roy O. Disney, sadly passed away at age 82. Born in Ontario, Canada in 1859, Elias was the son of Irish immigrants. He moved his family wherever opportunity called, from small towns to growing cities. Elias worked as a farmer, machinist, carpenter, hotel proprietor, and construction supervisor, helping build landmarks like the Union Pacific Railroad and the 1893 Columbian Exposition. Elias passed his work ethic, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit on to his sons, helping shape the Disney empire. [85 years ago in 2026]
