On this day in 1959, the live-action documentary, ‘Grand Canyon’ was released in theaters in front of ‘Sleeping Beauty.’ ‘Grand Canyon’ depicts sweeping vistas of the canyon’s south rim and its animal life, stirringly set to Ferde Grofé’s “Grand Canyon Suite.” It would win an Academy Award for Best Short Subject. A diorama reproducing scenes and music from the film opened along the Disneyland Railroad in 1958 and still delights guests today! [65 years ago in 2024]
