Just weeks after opening, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is dropping its virtual queue at Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland. Since opening on January 27th, guests have been required to get a virtual queue at 7:00 AM or 1:00 PM or to purchase an individual Lightning Lane to experience the attraction. Starting on February 22, 2023, guests will be able to stand in a standby line. The individual Lighting Lane option will also be still available for those who want to experience the attraction that way.
The attraction is an adventure with Mickey and Minnie Mouse that begins with guests seeing the premiere of a new short with Mickey and Minnie getting ready for a picnic. Heading out, they find themselves driving next to Goofy who is driving a train. Then, through the power of Disney magic, suddenly guests are aboard engineer Goofy’s train and off on a wacky adventure.
The dropping of the virtual queue requirement to experience the attraction continues a trend at the Disneyland Resort of opening an attraction with the virtual queue and then dropping it. This happened with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and also WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure in Avengers Campus. As with the other attractions, the virtual queue could return if deemed necessary by the Disneyland Resort.
While Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is now open at Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland, however, the land itself isn’t. Mickey’s Toontown is set to reopen on March 19, 2023.
