This morning as part of the Disney100 celebration at the Disneyland Resort, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway opened in Mickey’s Toontown. The attraction utilized a virtual queue (guide here) for guests to experience the attraction. It had windows at 7:00 AM and then again at 1:00 PM for guests to try to get a virtual boarding group to experience the attraction. Individual Lighting Lanes were also available for $20 as well.
The Daps Magic team secured group 16 in the morning and were called to experience the attraction by 8:30 AM. Entering Mickey’s Toontown minutes later, the area was full of cast members and Imagineers excitedly welcoming guests. It was very clear that there was a sense of pride and happiness in the area for the day. This early in the day, there weren’t many people in the land or on the attraction. The queue for the attraction was rather empty as well which gave the team plenty of time to explore all of exhibit that can be found in the queue.
After exploring the queue, the team entered a theater that was mostly empty. Entering the cartoon and then boarding the train was a very easy process with not many people boarding yet. In fact, the train that the team boarded was half empty. The attraction is absolutely beautiful and is an incredible addition to Mickey’s Toontown.
Once off the attraction, some time was spent enjoying the part of Mickey’s Toontown that is already open. Kids could be seen playing on the new grass where the Roger Rabbit fountain once stood. The new area music added to the positive and whimsical energy of the land. By 9:30 as the team began to depart from the land, things were filling up. A queue was filling up the walkway up to the land and was already doubled back and forth several times. It appeared that the queue was also filling with people.
The addition of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a wonderful thing for Mickey’s Toontown. It adds to the story of the land in a very natural way. It also creates cohesion for the experience that is really enjoyable. This is an attraction that will be fun to visit and revisit as time goes by. There are plenty of details to explore and find throughout the land, the queue, and also the attraction.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is just one of many new offerings at the Disneyland Resort. There are also two new nighttime spectaculars at the Disneyland Resort as well. Wondrous Journeys is at Disneyland and World of Color – ONE is at Disney California Adventure. There is also a new cavalcade, merchandise, food, and more!
