Pandemic Forces Shanghai Disneyland Closure Again

The Shanghai Disney Resort has closed again due to the impact of the pandemic. This includes Shanghai Disneyland, Disneytown, and also Wishing Star Park. It closed on Monday, October 31, 2022 and at this time a reopening date is unknown. The resort made the announcement about its closure at 11:39 AM (local time) and said it would be immediately closing.

The park closed immediately and guests were told they had to test negative before exiting the park. Some limited attractions remained active while guests were waiting to be tested and leave. It was also instructed that anyone who had visited Shanghai Disney Resort since October 27 should test for COVID-19 three times in three days.

The closure comes just days after Shanghai Disneyland started operating with reduced operations due to the apparent rise of COVID-19 cases in the area. Shanghai reported 10 locally transmitted cases on October 30th, all that were asymptomatic.

This is the second time that Shanghai Disneyland has been closed this year due to the pandemic and the guidelines surrounding it. Earlier this year, it was closed for three months. Below is the full statement that was posted on the Shanghai Disneyland website announcing the closure.
