Bob Weiss’ Retirement Post:

You may have heard I announced today I will be retiring from Walt Disney Imagineering the end of this year.

I’m very proud of the years I spent as an Imagineer, as president of WDI, and the past year that I have served as Global Imagineering Ambassador.

For me this is a very exciting next chapter. I’ll continue writing my book for Disney Publishing on the Marty Sklar Archives, and I am developing a screenplay for Walt Disney Studios. But I am also excited to take my experience and use it for worthy projects that have the potential to improve our world. These are exciting times, let’s stay connected.

Bob Weiss on Retiring

Bob Weiss joined Disney in 1980 in Walt Disney Imagineering. During his first run with Imagineering, he worked on Disney’s Hollywood Studios and also Tokyo DisneySea. He left Disney in 1994 to start his own business. However, he returned to Imagineering in 2007 as executive vice president where oversaw the development of Cars Land and other parts of the transformation of Disney California Adventure. In 2016, Weiss became the president of Walt Disney Imagineering. Part of this role was being responsible for all of the creative and design aspects for Shanghai Disney Resort. In December 2021, he transitioned to his current Global Imagineering Ambassador.

Daps Magic would like to wish Bob Weiss the all the best in retirement and with his new chapter as an author and movie-maker. Thank you for all the magic, Bob!
