Disney has purchased the campus that has served as the home of the Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A. This comes after Yamaha said it is moving to Georgia and had put the property up for sale. Yamaha had purchased the land to be its headquarters in 1978, with the office opening the following year. The property is located at 6555 Katella Ave. in Cypress, California, and is an entire city block in size. It was purchased by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S. Inc. after Yamaha listed the property through Avison Young.

The 25-acre campus sold for $115 million. The industrial-zoned campus consists of an industrial warehouse, flex, and office building that totals 279,000 square feet. Disney said the following to the Orange County Register regarding the sale: “This acquisition provides space that can help support our long-term operational needs for our continued growth and evolving business needs.” Disney said that this space will be used for “back-of-house operations” and non-guest-facing work.
There won’t be any immediate changes to the campus. While the deal closed on September 23, 2026, Yamaha will continue to lease the property through December 31, 2028, as it completes its transition to Georgia. The Disney company is also going through its own transitions, particularly at the Disneyland Resort. Just under 7 miles down the road, the Disneyland Resort is going through a period of transformation. Recently, as part of the construction of a new parking structure and transportation hub, an office building was knocked down across Harbor Boulevard from Disneyland Resort.
As the Disneyland Resort continues to move forward with new initiatives as part of DisneylandForward, there will be a need for more back-of-house spaces. This could come from the loss of these spaces at the Disneyland Resort, from additional offerings needing more support, or a combination of things. There are other possibilities for what this campus could be needed for by Disney. What is known is that it is a large space, and these kinds of opportunities don’t come up very often this close to the Disneyland Resort, so Disney jumped on the opportunity.

They hinted at this when I was there for the conference this summer because they simply don’t have enough room for all the floats and other things they want to work on. This space will let them work on things simultaneously.
