Disney Purchases Land in Florida for Future Lake Nona Campus

A company related to The Walt Disney Company has purchased approximately 60 acres from Lake Nona Land CO (connected to Tavistock Development Co) through a Disney-connected company called Dynamic Campus LLC. The purchase price was $46 million. This brings the price per acre in at about $766,666. The deal was reported by the Orlando Business Journal.

This acquisition could mark a significant step forward for Disney as it plans to move 2,000 jobs from its Parks, Experiences and Products division to Florida. Disney says it is doing this due to the friendly business climate that is found in Florida. Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products also said that it will give “the opportunity to consolidate our teams and be more collaborative and impactful both from a creative and operational standpoint.”

Disney has also been reportedly working on developing a 55+ residential community. It is unknown if this 60-acre purchase also is intended for this. At this time neither Disney nor Tavistock has made any statements on this purchase or the intended purchase of it. The transaction was identified through real estate records.

Lake Nona is approximately 20 miles East of Walt Disney World Resort. It is also near Orlando International Airport.
