After closing last March, Universal Studios Hollywood is ready to reopen! The theme park has announced that it plans to open to the public on April 16. If you are a Universal Studios season or annual pass holder, you have a chance to get a sneak peek of the park on April 15 with bonus days all the way through Sunday, May 16!
While the park itself will officially reopen on April 16, some attractions, shows, and experiences will be closed. Universal has not given a complete list of what will and won’t be open, they have said to periodically check back on the park map to plan your visit.
Most notably, The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash will reopen with the park. This new attraction was originally supposed to open on the Upper Lot last year but was not able to open due to the closure. While Disney has made the difficult decisions to postpone the openings of Avenger’s Campus and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Universal will be charging ahead with reopening!
Universal has also announced that Jurassic World – The Ride will be reopening with the grand finale and new animatronic! The new Indominus Rex will have you leaving the attraction feeling like you just faced off with a real dinosaur. I am incredibly excited to see what this looks like in practice and I know many fans of this updated attraction have been waiting as well!
For APs, Universal Studios wants to share the love after a hard year of theme park closures! Pass holders will have the opportunity for a preview event on April 15, the day before the park officially opens! Here is the guidance on Bonus Days and Passes from the Universal Studios website!
To allow us to adhere to government guidelines and to make the safety and well-being of our guests and Team Members a top priority, Park attendance capacity will be significantly reduced. As a result, a reservation system will be required during our initial reopening phase to assist in ensuring the best guest experience.
To accommodate our Pass Members during this initial reopening phase, we are introducing “Bonus Days” for Pass Members on select days between Thursday, April 15, 2021 and Sunday, May 16, 2021. During this period, all Pass Members will be required to make an advanced reservation for a Bonus Day before their visit. Blackout dates specific to your Pass will not apply with a reservation, however, be aware that reservation capacity will be limited and subject to availability, and will vary by date.
While we are in this reopening “Bonus Days” period, the time will not count against the term of your Pass. At the conclusion of this period, the expiration date of your Pass will be extended by the number of days we have been closed including this additional “Bonus Days” period. (The method of how your time will be extended may vary depending on whether or not you purchased your Pass using FlexPay.)
You may resume regular use of your Pass in accordance with its terms beginning on Monday, May 17, 2021. You will receive a new printed pass upon entry to the Park at the time of your first visitation on or after May 17, 2021, which will include your new Pass expiration date.
When reservations open for the reopening “Bonus Days” period, Pass Members will be eligible to make one reservation per day beginning at 12:01am each day. Reservation capacity is limited and subject to availability; first come first served.
