On Walt Disney’s Birthday, Dreamer’s Point Statue Confirmed for EPCOT

On what would have been Walt Disney’s 119th birthday, a statue of his likeness was again confirmed for EPCOT. Originally announced at the 2019 D23 Expo, this statue of Walt Disney was supposed to be at a location being called Dreamer’s Point. It would celebrate the ultimate dreamer and also act as an anchor for EPCOT. This was all announced before COVID-19 hit. The coronavirus has had an impact on many projects that have been either postponed or canceled. The status of the Dreamer’s Point statue was unknown until today.

Imagineer Zach Riddley posted a tribute to Walt Disney and included the news in his post that the statue will still be built. Riddley posted:

Today – on Walt Disney’s birthday – we are reminded of his legacy of hope. Walt showed us all the potential we have to dream of a better future and how important and special it is to bring that future to life.  As we shared at D23 Expo last year, that dreamer’s spirit inspired us to feature a new statue of Walt as part of the new World Celebration neighborhood in EPCOT, in a location we are appropriately calling Dreamer’s Point.

Walt said, “EPCOT will always be in a state of becoming…” and it’s that spirit of potential and possibility that inspires all we are bringing to life in the transformation of EPCOT.

In celebration of today, I hope you’re encouraged to dream big and inspire others as we dream of a better future we can make a reality together.

While this does confirm the continuation of the Dreamer’s Point project, it does not give any timeline for when it will be built or completed. DAPS MAGIC will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available. What do you think about Dreamer’s Point and the Walt Disney statue coming to EPCOT? Do you think it will be a good tribute to Disney at Walt Disney World Resort? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
