First Look at EPCOT Main Entrance Fountain Pylons Revealed!

This morning Imagineer Zach Riddley gave a first look at the found pylons for the entrance of EPCOT that were just installed.

In a post on Instagram, Riddley said, “I’m excited to share a first look at the pylons we installed last night as we continue to reimagine the EPCOT main entrance fountain, which has anchored this area since the park opened in 1982. Our design team took special interest in looking back to the original geometry for inspiration and infusing new features with a little bit of added magic to bridge the past, present and future of EPCOT . These majestic pylons also draw your eye upward toward the sky and perfectly frame views of the iconic Spaceship Earth attraction. I can’t wait to reveal the completed look for this fountain later this year!”

The addition of the new pylons are a big step towards the completion of the reimagined entrance of EPCOT. The look is inspired by the original look for EPCOT with a new fresh approach. According to Riddley, this new fountain should be completed sometime later this year. Concept art released by Disney shows what the finished project will generally look like. The entire entrance to EPCOT will have a beautiful park feel. Previously, there were granite monoliths framing the view of Spaceship Earth as guests would enter EPCOT.

This entrance project is one of several projects happening at EPCOT. This includes new neighborhoods in the current Future World locations, new attractions, and more! Much of this was announced at last year’s D23 Expo. However, due to the financial impacts caused by the coronavirus, some of these plans have been changed. DAPS MAGIC will continue to follow these stories and update them as details become available.
