Welcome to another edition of the DISNEY Reporter. Each week we quickly cover the top Disney and geek headlines. This week, there was a lot of ground to cover. The biggest news came from an earnings call for The Walt Disney Company. Out of this came the news that Shanghai Disneyland will be reopening this coming week. Disney+ also continues to grow its subscription base at a rapid rate.
Along with Shanghai Disneyland reopening, Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort will also be reopening soon. With the opening of these two Disney experiences, Shanghai Disneyland has already sold out of tickets for its reopening day. Those are the only two things that are currently reopening though. This week Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts pushed new reservations back to July 1st. The reopening dates for these parks continue to be unknown. This is also true for the Tokyo Disney Resort. Initially, it was expected that there would be news about its reopening. Now it is known that there is no known reopening date for the Tokyo Disney Resort.
In Star Wars news, Taika Waititi will be directing and co-writing a new Star Wars film. We also learned this week that Boba Fett will be appearing in season 2 of The Mandalorian.
