The rain rain rain came down down down at the Disneyland Resort on Sunday. It may have been Memorial Day weekend at the Disneyland Resort, but it felt more like Groundhog’s Day. The weather was quite volatile as the sky decided what it wanted to do. Mr. DAPs, Caitie, and Roger spent most of the day trying to decide and adapt to the weather. This led to some interesting moments.
Highlights of the Rainy Day at Disneyland
Happiest March on Earth
Generally at 12:30 there is the Happiest March on Earth happening in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. However, with the weather trying to decide what it was going to do, it also appeared that Mickey and the band were having to try and figure out what they were going to do as well. Cast Members from Main Street vehicles entertained guests as everyone waited to see what happened. Finally, guests were asked to move away from the taped off areas and to the sides of the street. Mickey soon marched out with the Disneyland Band and the rest of his friends for a brief stop in the street in front of the castle. They then marched down Main Street.
Toy Story 4 Preview
Rainy days at the Disneyland Resort are perfect days to go check out previews. There is now a Toy Story 4 preview in the Magic Eye Theater in Tomorrowland. This preview was approximately 15 minutes long and gives a fairly substantial look at how the movie will be starting it appears. All three of the DAPS MAGIC gang really enjoyed it and are really curious to see where the rest of the movie will go.
Disney California Adventure Updates
There are a lot of things continuing to change at Disney California Adventure. As the rain started to trickle down again, a stop was made at the Blue Sky Cellar to see what is still there. It is still focused on Pixar Pier. The team stopped by Pixar Pier later to see the progress on the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. It is getting closer and closer to opening this summer! Pixar Pier also has the wall down where The Incredibles meet near the Incredicoaster as well and it looks great. Things are continuing to progress rapidly for the Super Hero land as well and that is very fun to see! Some other new signs have gone up recently so they were cool to check out. Oh, and in the rain, it is even more fun to watch people ride Grizzly River Run. Our friend Cristina joined while we were in the park as well.
Downtown Disney District
Dinner this weekend was in the Downtown Disney District at Earl of Sandwich. It was perfect for a cool evening and the heaters over the seating area felt wonderful. It is always fun to watch the entertainment at the Downtown Disney stage. After dinner, a stop was made at Salt & Straw. Between the four of us, several different flavors were sampled and enjoyed.
Cars Land in the Rain at Night with Friends
After the Downtown Disney treats, it was decided to go back into Disney California Adventure and enjoy the rain coming down… again. Cars Land is one of the most beautiful places to visit in the rain. Everyone else decided the same and soon there were nearly a dozen people hanging out in the middle of the street in Cars Land. This included new friends and old friends which made for a lovely evening in Cars Land!
Nighttime at Disneyland
As night took over the Disneyland Resort, the group made their way back to Disneyland to take pictures of the castle in the dark. The rain had ceased for the meantime. The castle was beautiful in the evening and made for a wonderful time as everyone took pictures. Following this it was a lovely evening to watch Fantasmic!, see some friends who were working, and then make a hasty exit as the sky opened up with both fireworks and rain one more time.
Overall, it was a lovely day at the Disneyland Resort. It really didn’t feel like May though. It really felt more like one of the winter months. Despite the eccentric weather, the friendships that were celebrated made for a wonderful day. The next big day at the Disneyland Resort will on Friday for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! If there is anything, in particular, you want to see or for us to cover, please let us know in the comments below! We hope you have a fantastic week! We’ll see you in the parks!
