Sleeping Beauty Castle has begun its refurbishment at the Disneyland Resort. Overnight walls were erected in front of the castle and on its sides. The Fantasyland side of the castle has walls underneath the entrance to the drawbridge and Snow White Grotto area. Currently, guests can walk around the West side of the castle to enter Fantasyland. Guests can also wander around the East side of the castle to see Snow White Grotto. However, they can not enter Fantasyland from that side.
The refurbishment is mainly to repair and refresh the roofing and turrets for the castle. The Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough is still open but will be closing soon as the refurbishment continues. There are no major changes expected for the castle with this refurbishment, just some tender loving care to the crown jewel of Disneyland.
This isn’t the first time the castle has been given some care. Through the years it has received a few enhancements, including the Disney family crest shield, the center stained glass window, and the banners in front of it. The coloring has been tweaked through the years but in general, it maintains a grey, pink, and blue color scheme.
Sleeping Beauty Castle isn’t the only attraction to be refurbished this spring. The Disneyland Resort also will be working on the following attractions:
- Haunted Mansion, January 7th-17th
- Sleeping Beauty Castle Exterior, January 7th
- Grizzly River Run, January 7th
- Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante, January 14th-17th
- Enchanted Chamber, January 17th
