In Thrawn: Alliances the Emporer is going to pair both Darth Vader and Grand Admiral Thrawn on a very specific mission to a specific place that has significance to both of these Imperial leaders. This mission will also hold significance to those Disney fans who are familiar with the future of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Fans may remember that the world which Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge inhabits is a planet called Batuu. In an excerpt from the upcoming Thrawn: Alliances book by Timothy Zahn, it teases how Batuu might fight into the bigger Star Wars universe. Here is an excerpt from StarWars.com from the book:
“The disturbance is located at the edge of your Unknown Regions,” the Emperor said. “It appears to be centered on a planet named Batuu.” Again, he sensed a reaction to the name. This time, the reaction came from both of them. “I believe you have heard of it?”
Thrawn’s eyes were hooded, the expression on that blue-skinned face swirling with memories. “Yes,” he murmured. “I have indeed heard of it.”
As, of course, had Vader. It was the place where he and Thrawn had long ago interfered, albeit unwittingly, with one of Palpatine’s plans.
There is a larger excerpt on StarWars.com that goes into more of what exactly is going on during this conversation. What do you think of both Darth Vader and Grand Admiral Thrawn going to Batuu? Are you excited for this book? What do you think of it being a part of the larger Star Wars canon? Let us know in the comments below.
