Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be opening at Disneyland also at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2019. The largest land expansion to the Disneyland Resort will be arriving in the summer of 2019. For Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it will be arriving in late fall. With the announcement of the opening seasons of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a video offering a preview of the lands was released as well. Watch it here:

Opening Season Just Announced for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will take guests to the planet Batuu. This planet currently can be seen by those who travel aboard Star Tours at either Disneyland or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It is a remote outpost that once was a central hub for busy space travelers. Now with the dawning of hyperspace travel, it is mostly forgotten. Because of it being out of the way, it now is filled with smugglers, rogue traders, and adventurers who are traveling from the frontier into the uncharted reaches of space. It is also known as a safe haven for those looking to avoid the attention of the First Order. Just how safe it remains to be seen but it can be guessed that next year we’ll know more! While we as travelers might not know a ton about Batuu, it is familiar to the characters found in Star Wars. It will even be featured in an upcoming Star Wars book about Grand Admiral Thrawn and Darth Vader.

What do you think about this announcement regarding the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge? Where will you be visiting to see a galaxy far, far away next year? When do you think each land will specifically open? Let us know your comments down below. If I had to make a guess from this far out I’m going to aim for May 4th or May 25th for Disneyland. I don’t have a solid date in mind for Disney’s Hollywood Studios but will generally aim for the beginning of November. Let us know your thoughts below and may the Force be with you!
