Disneyland Resort 2017 All-American College Band Arrives for a Summer of Musical Fun!

2017 Disneyland Resort All-American College Band

The Disneyland Resort All-American College Band returned to the Disneyland Resort yesterday. Under the direction of Dr. Ron McCurdy the band will be performing for nine weeks this summer in both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

The season this year began with the patriotic flag retreat in Town Square on Main Street, USA. The next set took place in front of Main Street Station, followed by the Royal Theatre in Fantasy Faire. The day ended in Disney California Adventure along the parade route with the band coming out near Ghirardelli. Generally the band would start their day with a set in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. This did not happen on their first day however.

2017 Disneyland Resort All-American College Band Set Times
  • 3:15 – Sleeping Beauty Castle
  • 5:15 – Patriotic Flag Retreat
  • 6:15 – Main Street Station
  • 7:15 – Royal Theatre
  • 8:05 – Disney California Adventure Parade Corridor

The band performs five days a week at the Disneyland Resort, Monday through Friday. The only exception currently is this week when they will be playing Thursday-Saturday.

The Disneyland Resort All-American College Band has been a Disney tradition dating back to 1971. Since then, thousands of students have gotten to participate in the band and experience what it is like to be in the professional music industry. Each day band members not only perform in the parks, but also spend time in daily clinics/classes. They then learn from and perform with clinicians like Wayne Bergeron, Gregg Field, John Clayton, Jiggs Whigham, Rick Baptist, and others. Each student has an educational focus that they complete a project on in one of these areas: Composition and Arranging; Careers in Music; Recording and Production.

The Disneyland Resort 2017 All-American College Band is comprised of 21 musicians. It is made up of the following instruments:

  • 4 Trumpets
  • 4 Trombones
  • 5 Saxophones (double on flute/clarinet/piccolo)
  • 2 Tuba/Sousaphone
  • 2 Horn/Mellophone
  • 4 Percussion
    • Drum set player (snare player also)
    • Acoustic/Electric Bass (doubles on bass drum)
    • Jazz Piano player (doubles on percussion)

The Disneyland Resort 2017 All-American College Band will be performing for the next 9 weeks throughout the Disneyland Resort. Make sure to take some time to check them out!
