Mickey Mouse is going all out for his birthday this year with a trip around the world! During this trip to many iconic global locations, Mickey will be chronicling his adventures on Disney’s Mickey Mouse Facebook page. At the end of this trip, a video will debut with a new song entitled “What We Got” that will debut on November 18th, Mickey’s birthday. Fans of Mickey Mouse can join in the fun and help celebrate Mickey’s big day on social media with the hashtag #HappyBirthdayMickey.
While on social media, also hop over to Instagram and follow Mickey Mouse on his new account: @mickeymouse. There, Mickey will also be showing different photos and videos of his travels leading up to the big birthday.
If visiting the Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort, buttons wishing Mickey a happy birthday will be shared on November 18th. At Disneyland there will also be a special pre-parade. In Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, the Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It! Street Party will be specially themed for Mickey’s birthday. If making it to one of the theme parks isn’t possible, Disney Stores will also be distributing the “Happy Birthday, Mickey!” buttons.
On the Disney Channel, November 18th will be a day dedicated to Mickey Mouse. The Emmy®-winning new Mickey Mouse shorts will be airing all day with the premiere of two new cartoon series featuring Mickey Mouse. The first is Mickey Meows Club, where feline hosts of a web-based talk show provide their own “cat”-mentary on Mickey’s performances along with their favorite shorts. In Mickey’s How Not To, some of the less successful moments in Mickey’s most recent shorts will be shared to demonstrate how not to do quite a few things.
On the web D23: The Official Disney Fan Club, Oh My Disney, Babble, and other Disney sites will be celebrating Mickey’s birthday with Mickey-related videos, galleries, stories, crafts, recipes, and more leading up to November 18th.
Mickey Mouse’s birthday celebrates his debut in Steamboat Willie on November on November 18th, 1928 at the Colony Theatre in New York City. Since then he has gone on to star in over 100 cartoons and can be seen on the Disney Channel and in Disney Theme Parks and shows around the world every day!
