On November 18, 2023, Mickey Mouse celebrated his 95th birthday. As Walt Disney said, “it was all started by a mouse.” Nearly 100 years later, it could almost be said that it all continues with a mouse. While the company has evolved through the years, Mickey Mouse continues to be a lovable everyman that delights fans around the world. As part of the celebration, The Walt Disney Company created and shared a commemorative look at Mickey Mouse that looks at his iconic roles, enduring legacy, and connection to fans around the world. The spot also includes rare footage of Walt Disney voicing Mickey Mouse, a Steamboat Willie clip, and also a voiceover of Walt Disney sharing about what Mickey Mouse means to him.
Originally this video was released on Good Morning America on November 16, 2023 ahead of Mickey’s birthday on the 18th. It was also shown ahead of early previews of Wish. Watch this special look below.
There were other celebrations for Mickey’s (and Minnie’s) birthday. This included a special cavalcade at Disneyland, new merchandise, programming, and also Mickey and Minnie serving as Grand Marshals in the Magnificent Mile Tree-Lighting Parade in Chicago.
