World of Color - Winter Dreams - Sunday Spotlight

Sunday Spotlight: World of Color – Winter Dreams

In 2013, a holiday version of World of Color came to the Disneyland Resort. World of Color – Winter Dreams ran from November 15, 2013 through January 6, 2014. For the world premiere of this version of World of Color, the voice of Olaf Josh Gad was on hand to kick the show off the night before it opened to the public. Members of the media and people who had signed up to attend via the Disney Parks Blog were in attendance. Appropriately enough, “Glow with the Show” ears were distributed for the event (they looked great on camera!).

World of Color – Winter Dreams was a beautiful show that opened with a virtual chorus singing a song called Glow. This was written by composer Eric Whitacre. 1,473 singers, representing all 50 American States, submitted recordings to be a part of this chorus. Whitacre shared on his website that most of those who submitted were chosen to be a part of this special choir. The bulk of the show was hosted by Olaf, hence why Josh Gad was on hand for the opening.

The show only appeared in this form for one season. It was split up into several different segments that can be seen here:

Here is a look at the world premiere of World of Color – Winter Dreams.

Another highlight from that night was getting to interview Imagineer Jason Badger about how the fountains in World of Color are controlled and brought this beautiful show to life. This included a demonstration of how the fountains work and are controlled. I even got to run them! All in all, it was a fantastic night that was absolutely magical!
