Making waves on The Hollywood Reporter is that of a Muppets revival. The website states that the ABC Company has hired Bill Prady, The Big Bang Theory co-creator, to help write a script for a pilot presentation of a proposed project involving the Muppets. If all goes well, the Muppets concept could become a series.

Also, Randall Einhorn will executive produce and direct this pilot’s presentation. Disney’s ABC Studios and The Muppet Studios will produce this project if it gets approved.
The article states:
Sources say the concept for the presentation includes the regular cast of characters created by Jim Henson — Kermit the Frog, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and Animal, among others — gathering at ABC Studios for a meeting about the new Muppet Show. However, the show won’t move forward unless Miss Piggy signs on, and her current relationship with frequent love Kermit is on the rocks, preventing the show from getting off the ground. Early plans call for two celebrity cameos — including Miss Piggy’s current co-star — as well as new roles including Fozzie’s girlfriend and her parents.
As to why a Muppets revival? The article mentions that there was interest shown from the popular company, Netflix. Plus, the Muppet fan-base has expanded throughout the years.
With the possible creation of a new Muppet series, there are a few road blocks as to if the concept will follow through. Television shows have been in a bit of a struggle and it was noted that “it has become increasingly challenging to launch original scripted half-hours.”
Stay tuned for further information on this project.
