On this day in 1996, the original soundtrack for ‘Swingers’ was released ahead of the film on Disney’s Hollywood Records. The album helped fuel the popularity of neo-swing in the late 1990s and introduced swing revivalist band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Their ‘Swingers’ hits, “You & Me and the Bottle Makes 3 Tonight (Baby)” and “Go Daddy-O,” were accompanied by a cover of the Disney classic “I Wanna Be Like You” from ‘The Jungle Book.’ Drawing from swing, country, and funk, the soundtrack created an eclectic but complementary listening experience.
