Geek Eats: German Schinkennudeln Recipe From EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival

The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is being celebrated at Walt Disney World Resort. This delicious celebration of food has dishes from around the world and gives plenty of options to try something new. In the Germany Pavilion, guests can enjoy celebrating the Food & Wine Festival and also Oktoberfest! There are many different offerings to enjoy eating and drinking the flavors of Bavaria.

This year, Schinkennudeln have returned and are part of Emile’s Fromage Montage. This dish is just one of 30 that have returned from years past as the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. It is a perfect dish to enjoy with a drink while watching the trains circle around next to the Germany Pavilion. For those who can’t make it to the celebration, or want to bring the celebration home with them, Disney has shared the recipe for these Schinkennudeln. German Schinkennudeln From EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival

Servings: 8 servings

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Pinch of ground white pepper
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup Swiss cheese (shredded)
  • 1/2 cup white cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1 pound cooked elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups diced ham (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray a 16- x 9-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Whisk together cream, eggs, salt, pepper, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Toss cheeses together in a small bowl until combined; remove 1 cup cheese and set aside. Stir remaining cheeses into cream mixture.
  3. Cook macaroni until just tender; drain and add cream mixture, stirring immediately. Pour mixture into prepared baking dish. Cover with foil.
  4. Bake 30 minutes. Remove foil and sprinkle reserved cheese over top of noodles. Bake 15 minutes longer.
  5. Cool 10 minutes before cutting into squares. Serve warm.
  6. To add protein to this dish, add 2 cups of diced ham to the macaroni mixture before baking.
