Disney Believe D23 Horizons: A Carousel of Progress

New Details Revealed About Disney Believe at D23

The next ship to join the Disney Cruise Line fleet will be the Disney Believe. It is set to do so in late 2027. During Horizons: A Carousel of Progress, details were revealed about what guests can look forward to on this ship. During the showcase, Claire Weiss, Portfolio Executive Creative Director, provided some illumination about this ship. This includes a first look at the plans for theship’s Grand Hall, exterior artwork, and even the character sculpture models for the ship’s stern, along with artwork that will be embossed on the Believe’s bow.

The Grand Hall

The Grand Hall on a Disney ship is a very special place. At the heart of this ship, it sets the course for what guests will experience when they cruise with Disney Cruise Line. Each Grand Hall is themed to a beloved Disney story. For Disney Believe, the Grand Hall will be infused with the optimistic spirit of exploration from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Moana films.

When guests enter the Grand Hall, they will find a beautiful bronze cast statue of Moana. She will be accompanied by her faithful companions Pua and HeiHei. This focal point in the venue will gaze proudly forward to new horizons. The new artwork that was released shows how there could be influences from the film’s beautiful South Pacific setting. There will be layers of artisanal Polynesian finishes that honor the cultural traditions of the region throughout the hall.

Details about the exterior of Disney Believe’s hull were also revealed. Continuing a Disney Cruise Line tradition, the Disney Believe will feature its own unique character artwork that adds a touch of nostalgia to the ship.

Disney shared a new rendering of the larger-than-life sculptures of Woody and Buzz Lightyear on the stern of the Disney Believe. The Toy Story duo will appear on the ship as they work together to etch the ship’s name across the back of the vessel with large yellow crayons. Instead of the classic calligraphy that is normally seen on ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, Woody and Buzz will instead be lettering the name in the way they know. It will be simple. It will be playful. It will also look similar to the franchise’s famous block-style font.

Artwork for the bow of the ship was also shown at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. The delicate, hand-painted filigree of Tinker Bell will be found on the bow of the Disney Believe. This will show Tinker Bell as she first appeared in the Walt Disney Animation Studios 1953 classic, Peter Pan. The magical fairy will be flanked by silhouettes of Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook, and other characters from the film.

“This ship celebrates belief in magic, family, the power of nature, and belief in yourself,” Claire told the audience. “And all the stories we tell onboard will be tied together by the core Disney notion of believing in something fantastical.”
