There was a LOT of news that came out of D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. For fans of the Disney parks and resorts, a lot of the news originated from Horizons: A Carousel of Progress. This is where a new Tomorrowland for Disneyland was revealed, the return of Dreamfinder with Figment for EPCOT, and details about Villains Land at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World Resort. This also gave updates about what is coming to Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure.

Anyone who has visited Avengers Campus recently has seen new buildings rising in the future expansion of the land. Those who visit regularly also have been watching a restroom built between Avengers Campus and Disney California Adventure. Fans have been eagerly awaiting updates on the progress that is being made in this home for super heroes at The Happiest Place on Earth. During Horizons: A Carousel of Progress, Walt Disney Imagineer Brent Strong and President of Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer of Marvel, Kevin Feige, shared updates about the land and beyond. Take a look at what was revealed below.
Avengers Campus Expansion Opening Timeline
An opening timeline for the expansion was revealed. Strong and Feige revealed that the two new attractions in the land, Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab, will be opening in 2028. When this expansion opens, the size of the land will be doubled!

Super Talent
There is an incredible lineup of talent that will be found when guests visit the expanded Avengers Campus. Where they already see Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider Man in the land, soon there will be more favorites from the silver screen appearing at Disney California Adventure. Here are the people who will be appearing when the expansion opens:
Avengers Infinity Defense
- Iman Vellani – Ms. Marvel – Provides pre-mission briefing as recruits are welcomed to Avengers Infinity Defense. Recruits will also get their mission: reassemble the Avengers to battle King Thanos and prevent the mad titan from wreaking havoc everywhere.
- Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye
- Anthony Mackie as Captain America
- Chris Hemsworth as Thor
- Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man
About Avengers Infinity Defense
When recruits experience Avengers Infinity Defense, they will be surrounded by massive physical sets that blend seamlessly with huge media scenes. This will put them right into the middle of the action and provide the sensation of hurtling across many worlds. “The fun part about Avengers Infinity Defense is how we get to use every single trick in the Imagineering book – and inventing some new ones – to create this attraction.” Destinations will include Asgard and New York City, which will be visited with favorite heroes. Ultimately, this will lead to a confrontation with King Thanos.

Stark Flight Lab
There will be some favorite faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe showing up in the second attraction for the Avengers Campus expansion, Stark Flight Lab. This includes:
- Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man
- Anthony Mackie as Captain America
- Brie Larson as Captain Marvel
Previously, it was shared at SXSW 2025 that the attraction will have guests sitting in two-person “gyro-kinetic pods” and then roll along a track before stopping in front of a giant robot arm. This will provide the experience of feeling what it’s like to train like a flying Avenger. This will include several high-speed maneuvers that are inspired by Iron Man and others. Then, recruits will be deployed to a test station where they are whirled around in a simulated flight.

Avengers Tower at Hong Kong Disneyland
There is a new Avengers pavilion that is currently being built at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, where the future home of the Avengers Research Testing Labs will be located. This new tower experience promises to be unlike any story that fans have experienced before.
Stark Industries and other brilliant minds like Peter Parker (Spider-Man) work at Avengers Testing Labs. As is often the case, new technology leads to new villains being interested in said technology. This often leads to new adventures. This is exactly what will happen here.

This new experience will utilize over 120 feet of storytelling tech. This will lead to an adventure that sees riders travel across realms including Wakanda, Asgard, and others as they are caught in the middle of the action alongside Spider-Man and other favorite Super Heroes.
There will also be a brand-new Quinjet landing platform nearby. This will be where fans can encounter favorite heroes when visiting. Construction is already underway for this addition, and as it goes vertical, it will impact the skyline of Tomorrowland and beyond in Hong Kong.
Spider-Man at Shanghai Disney Resort
A new land themed to Spider-Man is being built in Shanghai Disneyland. This will include a new thrill attraction that will be arriving soon. This is the first land anywhere globally that is dedicated exclusively to Spider-Man. It also will be home to the new Shanghai division of the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (or W.E.B. for short).
In this new land, Peter Parker and his friends have built a new set of Spider-Bots to help assemble experiments and also help build their brand-new coaster.
Continuing in the spirit of W.E.B., Walt Disney Imagineers are collaborating with local artists as they create more than 20 murals that would be found throughout the land. These celebrate all things science, Spidey, and the Avengers. A sneak peek of some of these murals could be found at the Imagineering Pavilion at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
At this point, the final piece of track for this attraction has been installed. The big question is: will the Spider-Bots behave better at Shanghai Disneyland than they do at Disney California Adventure?
