The nominations for the 78th Emmy Awards have been announced. The Walt Disney Company earned an impressive 125 nominations. Among them, The Muppet Show special event earned six! The series, with special guest star Sabrina Carpenter and executive producer/guest star Seth Rogen, arrived on Disney+ in February and was an immediate hit. It earned the following nominations:
- Outstanding Writing For A Variety Special
- Outstanding Production Design For A Variety Special
- Outstanding Picture Editing For Variety Programming
- Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance – Matt Vogel
- Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded)
- Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Variety Series Or Special
The 78th Emmy Awards will take place on September 14, 2026.
The Muppet Show arrived on Disney+ and ABC on February 4, 2026. It hearkened back to the original episodes of The Muppet Show, with different acts and moments taking place throughout the special. It’s “The Muppet Show”! Kermit, Miss Piggy and the beloved Muppets ensemble are back with a brand-new special event. Music, comedy, and a whole lot of chaos are bound to ensue when The Muppets once again take the stage of the original Muppet Theatre with their very special guest, Sabrina Carpenter!
From 20th Television, Disney Branded Television, The Muppets Studio and Point Grey Pictures, the special event is directed by Alex Timbers, who also serves as executive producer. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver and Alex McAtee are executive producers for Point Grey Pictures; David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter and Michael Steinbach are executive producers for The Muppets Studio; Sabrina Carpenter, Albertina Rizzo, Matt Vogel and Eric Jacobson are executive producers.
