Ahead of the arrival of Disney’s live-action Moana in theaters, the stars and filmmakers are going on a whirlwind global tour. These saw events around the film happening in Australia and China. The tour started in Hawai’i earlier this month. The next stop for Dwayne Johnson, Catherine Lagaʻaia, and director Thomas Kail was in the United Kingdom. This global celebration continued with a special Moana event in the U.K. This comes ahead of the arrival of Moana in theaters on July 10, 2026.

For this event, producers Beau Flynn, p.g.a.; Hiram Garcia, p.g.a.; executive producer Scott Sheldon, and executive producer Auliʻi Cravalho were also on hand. Cravalho voiced Moana in the animated films Moana and Moana 2. She also performs the new original song, Along The Way, for the live-action film with Johnson and Lagaʻaia. Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote this song. Choreographer and associate producer Tiana Nonosina Liufau and assistant choreographer Kayla Faʻamaligi also attended the event.
The Moana Experience was centered around a massive 20-foot-tall replica of Maui’s fishhook. Beside it was a magnificent recreation of Moana’s canoe. During this Pacific-inspired event, there was a collection of magical moments, including dance, drum, and vocal performances. This included renditions of many beloved Moana songs. The cast and filmmakers also surprised fans as they posted for photos at Potters Field Park in front of London’s iconic Tower Bridge. At the conclusion of the event, students from the British Theatre Academy performed Maui’s popular song, You’re Welcome. This got even better as Dwayne Johnson joined in the performance on stage, delighting all who were participating and in attendance!

There were thousands in attendance at this event. Among the attendees were students from St. Gregory’s School in Colchester. These children were surprised by this event. They believed they were heading to a typical school trip until the moment they arrived and discovered what a magical thing they were at! This is a school group that went viral earlier this year after posting on TikTok in which they asked Dwayne Johnson to comment on their video. Johnson did more than that. He replied to the school with his own video. Along with being invited to attend the event in London, they also met Johnson in person!
In “Moana,” Disney’s live-action reimagining of the beloved Oscar®-nominated animated adventure, Moana (Catherine Lagaʻaia) answers the Ocean’s call and, for the first time, voyages beyond the reef of her island of Motunui with the infamous demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) on an unforgettable journey to restore prosperity to her people. The film is directed by Emmy® and Tony Award® winner Thomas Kail (“Hamilton”); produced by Dwayne Johnson, p.g.a., Beau Flynn, p.g.a., Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, p.g.a. and Lin-Manuel Miranda; and executive produced by Scott Sheldon, Charles Newirth, Kail and Auliʻi Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the animated films “Moana” and “Moana 2.” “Moana” features the new song “Along The Way,” written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and performed by Cravalho, Laga‘aia and Johnson; original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina; and an original score composed by Mancina. Audiences can experience the brilliant cinematic sights, sounds and songs of “Moana” exclusively in theaters July 10, 2026.
