Work continues on Disney Lakeshore Lodge. This beautiful new nature-inspired resort is set to open in the late summer of 2027. Leading up to this exciting time, Disney is sharing information about this new destination on the south shores of Bay Lake. Today, Disney shared about a sweeping outdoor recreation area that will be found just beyond the lobby. Surrounded by the beauty of Bay Lake, The Wetlands will be a place for guests to relax, unwind, and reconnect with nature.
Disney shared about The Wetlands, saying that it will be thoughtfully designed with an eye toward fun and relaxation. For younger guests, there will be the opportunity to be a part of nature’s story through whimsical wet and dry play areas inspired by the music and storytelling of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Pocahontas. There will be vibrant spaces that celebrate the playful connection found in nature that draw from the lyrics “the heron and the otter are my friends,” from Colors of the Wind.

Heron Shores will be a place that welcomes exploration and hands-on play with imaginative climbing features. Just around the riverbend, Otter Springs will bubble to life with interactive water features for little ones to cool off as they splash and slide. There will also be the lazy Daydream River, where guests will be able to sit back and relax as they float through the recreation area and enjoy the views of the beautiful landscape around them.

The Lakeside Lagoon will be found at the heart of The Wetlands. It will be a zero-entry feature pool for guests of all ages to enjoy the Florida sun together. It will include a spiral waterslide that will allow guests to slide in the water. On the opposite side of the resort, Perspective Pond will have a leisure pool and whirlpool spa. This will be perfectly positioned for views of the fireworks at Magic Kingdom in the evenings.
The Wetlands will offer many different ways for guests to feel a distinct connection to nature. It will balance breathtaking beauty and tranquility with moments for both discovery and play.
There will also be a scenic path that winds through the recreation area. There will be fun facts to uncover about the local flora and fauna in the area. There will also be a special plaque that honors a beloved historic attraction that once stood at that very spot to look out for as well!
One more perk, perhaps the best one, all of this fun will be just a boat ride from the Magic Kingdom. Walt Disney World hotel stays mean enjoying access to some incredible amenities and special benefits like complimentary transportation across Walt Disney World Resort and extra time to enjoy the theme parks.

The Lakeshore Lodge will be inspired by Walt Disney’s lifelong admiration for the great outdoors. Its design will pay tribute to decades of animated stories rooted in nature, with subtle nods to classic films — from the lush forests of Bambi and the colorful winds of Pocahontas to the sweeping glacial landscapes of Brother Bear. It will have 967 rooms, many of which will have views of Bay Lake by day and Magic Kingdom fireworks at night.
