On this day in 1966, the ‘it’s a small world’ attraction opened in its new home in Fantasyland at Disneyland after its run at the New York World’s Fair. Walt Disney was joined by over 50 representatives from nations worldwide, officials from its sponsor, Bank of America, and international youth performing groups. Around 15 bottles of water from major rivers and oceans around the globe were symbolically added to the attraction. The dedication concluded with fireworks and the release of white doves and 10,000 balloons. [60 years ago in 2026]
