As Earth Month comes to a close, the focus on the planet we live on and how we can conserve doesn’t end. For Disney, it continues on a daily basis. Many fans and guests may not realize it, but they experience it when they visit Disney destinations around the world! Whether it is the parks or other Disney destinations, Disney has a long legacy of using renewable energy for power. In particular, solar power is used around the world by Disney.

Disney Experiences has over a quarter of a million kilowatts of solar capacity globally. This is basically enough to power a small town or city annually. Below is a look at the way solar power adds extra magic by providing clean power for Disney Experiences around the world. This comes as Disney continues to add more solar capacity through the years. The following is a look at where Disney is now. However, this doesn’t mean it is where Disney is stopping. Anyone who has followed Disney for any length of time knows that this is a company that likes to “keep moving forward.” Check out where things are at now and then think of the possibilities for what will come as Disney works to create a “great big beautiful tomorrow!”

Disneyland Resort
- At Disney California Adventure Park, Radiator Springs Racers can be supported by 1,400+ solar panels that provide a capacity of 400-kilowatts — that is roughly equal to powering nearly 100 Anaheim households

Walt Disney World Resort
- In total across four sites, Walt Disney World now has 212,000 kilowatts of solar capacity, with over 600,000 solar panels—generating roughly enough energy for over 19,000 Florida homes for one year.
- The newest solar facility is a 74,500-kilowatt, 484-acre site in Levy County, FL. helps diversify energy sources across many locations, so the magic doesn’t rely on sunshine in just one place.
- This new project joins WDW’s fan-favorite solar “Hidden Mickey” (a 5,000-kilowatt site shaped like Mickey Mouse near EPCOT), along with two other large solar projects in the state.

Tokyo Disney Resort
- Tokyo Disney Resort has a solar capacity of 1,600+ kilowatts with panels installed across 10 rooftop locations.

Disneyland Paris
- Disneyland Paris is home to Europe’s largest solar parking lot canopy with a capacity of 36,000 kilowatts- and over 80,000 solar panels. This offers guests shade and shelter and generates enough electricity to power the equivalent of a town of 17,400 people.

Hong Kong Disneyland
- Hong Kong Disneyland Resort has a solar capacity of 2,860 kilowatts with over 7,500 panels on rooftops across the park—the largest rooftop solar project in all of Hong Kong.
- In 2023, Hong Kong also installed 200 kilowatts of solar capacity in a parking lot canopy, featuring more than 400 solar panels.

Shanghai Disney Resort
- Shanghai Disney Resort has a solar capacity of 3,870 kilowatts, featuring around 2,000 solar panels, including rooftops and facades.

Disney Cruise Line (Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point):
- Disney Cruise Line has solar capacity of 2,500 kilowatts at Lighthouse Point and 1,400 kilowatts at Castaway Cay, with nearly 12,000 solar panels across both projects. These generate a significant portion of the electricity needs for these island destinations.
While Earth Month may shine a spotlight on ways that we can protect our planet for generations to come, Disney uses solar power to light up the magic on a daily basis. This helps keep Disney magic alive and vibrant, and also helps protect Earth. With these efforts, Disney is showing it recognizes that it is part of “a truly global community, poised to shape the future of this, our Spaceship Earth.”
