On this day in 1950, the Donald Duck short ‘Crazy Over Daisy’ was released. Chip and Dale make fun of Donald on his way to a date with Daisy, ruining his 1890s penny-farthing bicycle. Donald thinks he has prevailed, but Daisy scolds him instead for abusing the chipmunks! The short introduced Daisy’s theme song, which would return in future Donald Duck cartoons. The song was later retitled “Meet Me Down on Main Street” and was recorded by the Mellomen. [75 years ago in 2025]
