It is an exciting time to visit Downtown Disney District. In the midst of a massive transformation, there are plenty of new offerings to enjoy. This includes new shops, an entertainment space, and dining establishments. On January 22, 2025, Parkside Market celebrated its official grand opening. During a special ceremony in the late morning, the new dining destination with four different dining concepts officially joined the lineup of Downtown Disney District offerings. Daps Magic was invited to be on hand and experience this special moment and then experience the offerings inside afterward.
The event began with a ceremony (seen below) that had Disneyland Ambassador Jada Young welcoming those in attendance. She then introduced Jason Smith, the Vice President of Hotel Operations & Downtown Disney. He spoke briefly about the transformation of Downtown Disney District and the addition of Parkside Market and the four experiences inside. This includes Seoul Sister, Sip & Sonder, GG’s Chicken Shop, and Vista Parkside Market. They were all brought together by Levy Restaurants, whose CEO Andy Lansing was also on hand for the opening.
When Lansing spoke, he shared his condolences for all those impacted by the Los Angeles Fires. He also shared that Parkside Markets will be donating all of its first month’s profits to The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. This came as a new fire was flaring up near Lake Hughes, north of Los Angeles. He then introduced the people who brought the restaurants inside Parkside Market to life. Following the introductions, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse came to the stage for the ribbon-cutting moment.
Here are descriptions of the four locations inside of Parkside Market:
- GG’s Chicken Shop, from Boka Restaurant Group, was founded by James Beard Award-winning restaurateurs Rob Katz and Kevin Boehm, alongside Michelin Star Chef Partner LeeWolen. Serving family-friendly dishes including rotisserie and fried chicken, salads and classic table sides, the restaurant is affectionately named after Chef Wolen’s mother Geri.
- Seoul Sister will serve a Korean-forward menu based on bibimbap (Korean rice bowls) with a California twist. Executive Chef Kelly Kim will oEer bold, yet accessible, flavors with marinated meats, fresh vegetables, and savory sauces served over rice, noodles, or salad. An Asian-inspired breakfast menu will be a first in Downtown Disney.
- Sip & Sonder, from founders Amanda-Jane Thomas and Shanita Nicolas, is a Black-women owned brand currently recognized as one of the best cafés in L.A. by the Los Angeles Times. Signature lattes, along with fresh baked treats, and frozen drinks will combine with the brand’s community-focused vibe to create a center of energy at Parkside Market.
- VistaParkside Market, the second story al fresco bar, brings an extensive cocktail and mocktail program to explore while enjoying ideal views of the district and the new Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage and lawn directly across from Parkside Market. Menu items play into the bar’s scenic name, such as the bourbon-based Morning Mist and the Nocturnal Overlook, a vodka-based coffee cocktail complete with Sip & Sonder espresso. Zero-proof creations include the sparkling Brisk Breeze and refreshing Birds Eye View. For guests looking to drink and dine with a second-story view, food items from Parkside Market’s three downstairs concepts can be ordered and enjoyed at Vista.
After the grand opening, members of the media, influencers, and other special guests were invited inside for a reception. Food and beverages from all of the restaurants were served. There is quite a wide range of different foods. The food was fresh and used quality ingredients. The people who brought these concepts to life mingled around and chatted with people, sharing their excitement and enthusiasm.
The atmosphere is relaxing in Parkside Market and there are some great views of Downtown Disney District from the second floor. This is sure to be a popular destination at the Disneyland Resort as guests discover what their favorite foods, and new favorite foods, are on the different menus inside.
Parkside Market will be open seven days a week. GG’s Chicken Shop, Seoul Sister, and Vista Parkside Market will be open daily from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Sip & Sonder will open at 7:100 AM and remain open until 11:00 PM.
Along with the opening of Parkside Market, Disney Wonderful World of Sweets also opened in Downtown Disney District. On Friday, Disney Storyland Boutique will be opening as well.
