For many families and fans, watching It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is an annual Halloween tradition. Like a warm blanket on a rainy day, this Charlie Brown special is comforting and makes people walk away feeling just a little bit better. This is a tradition that dates back 60 years! In 2018, Apple TV became the exclusive home for Peanuts, including the holiday specials. Where It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and A Charlie Brown Christmas were once shown on broadcast television; they could now be watched on any device with a screen and access to the internet.
While Apple TV subscribers can watch the growing library of Peanuts programs at any time they wish, Apple has also made sure that there are opportunities for those without a subscription to watch these classic holiday specials. Today, Apple TV announced when fans can watch It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown for free. They will be able to stream it for free from Saturday, October 17 to Sunday, October 18.
To stream this Halloween classic on Apple TV, fans will simply need to do the following:
- Open the Apple TV app or visit https://tv.apple.com/
- Search for It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
- Sign in using any valid Apple ID (for the free-to-stream weekend, a subscription will not be required)
- Enjoy watching Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and the rest of the Peanuts gang!
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown sees the Peanuts gang celebrating Halloween. This includes the classic carving of pumpkins, trick-or-treating, and a Halloween party. It also sees Snoopy “going behind enemy lines” as a World War I Flying Ace. Meanwhile, Linus waits for the arrival of the Great Pumpkin. “On Halloween night, the Great Pumpkin rises from his pumpkin patch and flies through the air to bring toys to all the good little children everywhere,” he says in the special.
This Halloween special won’t be the only Peanuts program that will be available for free this year. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and A Charlie Brown Christmas will also be arriving on Apple TV for free for a short time in November and December, respectively.
