Lend Lease Act Insignia | DISNEY THIS DAY | January 28, 1942

On this day in 1942, the United States government announced the official insignia of the Lend Lease Act, designed by Disney. The emblem was used to identify food produced in the U.S. and shared with Allied nations. Disney artist Hank Porter developed the logo. It depicted an American eagle protecting a cargo ship from an Axis bomber. Four stars topped the image, symbolizing four freedoms – freedom of expression, of religion, from want, and from fear.
