Knott’s Scary Farm kicked off its 2024 season on September 19, 2024. This annual Southern California tradition is viewed by many as the best spooky Halloween party of the year. It is full of scare actors, zones, entertainment, mazes, and more! Knott’s Berry Farm invited Daps Magic to experience the opening night of Knott’s Scary Farm. Below is a look at this evening in chronological order of the evening.
Daps Magic was invited to experience some of the mazes before the night officially began. This began with a pre-opening moment. It can be seen here:
Before the night began, four mazes (two brand new, and two in their last year) were open for members of the media to experience and also for people who had purchased the Scary Farm Boo-fet. This included the following mazes:
Eight Fingers Nine: The Boogeyman (New)
Widows (New)
Wax Works (Final Year)
Bloodline 1842 (Final Year)
Knott’s Scary Farm officially began its 2024 season at 7:00 PM. An opening moment included the Conductor, the Green Witch, and of course a throng of scare actors! This moment can be seen here:
After the opening moment, there was a reception held for members of the media and special guests. This was an opportunity for dinner and dessert before heading out into the night full of frights.
For the Daps Magic team, the first stop after dinner was to see Le Magnifique Carnaval du Grotesque. This show is full of stunt performers, dancers, and some macabre humor. The full show can be seen here:
After Le Magnifique Carnaval du Grotesque, it was time to walk through the first scare zone of the night. In this case, it was Ghost Town Streets. This is an iconic scare zone and one of the team’s favorites.
The second scare zone was Forsaken Lake. This also is a classic and was a lot of fun to walk through. It seems like these scare zones get enhanced a little bit each year!
Knowing The Hanging: The Errors Tour was coming, we decided to try and fit in The Gauntlet scare zone in before seeing the hanging. This scare zone is in Camp Snoopy and seemed to be better than ever. There were quite a few new set pieces throughout the area this year that really added to the experience.
Finally, it was time for the hanging. Judging by the title, it seemed like this year’s hanging would be themed primarily to Taylor Swift. While there was a moment with a Taylor Swift look-alike, the show was mostly about the merger between Six Flags and Cedar Fair. The full show can be seen here:
Following the hanging, we raced over to the Gore-ing ‘20s scare zone to see Blind Tiger Balcony Soirée. This was a jazz performance with dancers up on the balcony of the Walter Knott Theater. The scare actors below also participated and danced with guests during the performance as well. Here is the full performance and also a walk-through of this scare zone.
Following this blast from the past, it was time to experience the spooky circus that is CarnEVIL. This year, this was the best scare zone.
After enjoying CarnEVIL, the next stop was Cinema Slasher! This is the best maze at Knott’s Scary Farm this year.
The final experience of the night was the Calico Candy Mine Ride. This is a Halloween overlay of the Calico Mine Ride. It is creepy and it is a bit weird. It also is worth experiencing.
Knott’s Scary Farm is a fantastic Southern California tradition. It can be experienced on select nights through November 2, 2024.
