On this day in 1974, actor and singer James Monroe Iglehart was born. Iglehart is best known for originating the role of the Genie in the Broadway production of ‘Aladdin’ in 2014. He was recognized with a Tony Award for the role and continued bringing the Genie’s magic to the stage until 2017. A lover of Disney, Iglehart has also voiced the animated characters Lance Strongbow in ‘Tangled: The Series,’ Bronzino in ‘Elena of Avalor,’ and Taurus Bulba in ‘DuckTales.’ [50 years ago in 2024]
