On this day in 2019, the dedication of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge took place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The ceremony was live-streamed by Disney Parks. Then Chairman of Parks and Resorts Bob Chapek performed the honors, along with Hondo Ohnaka, Chewbacca, R2-D2, BB-8, Stormtroopers, and Vi Moradi. It would be the second of two ‘Star Wars’ themed lands to debut, the first at Disneyland on May 31. The land would open to the public the following day. [5 years in 2024]
