Inside Out 2 has reached an impressive milestone today as it passes the $1 billion mark at the global box office. The Pixar film continues to break records and is the first film of the year to reach this mark. It also is the fastest that an animated flick has ever reached the billion dollar mark. It reached this milestone just 19 days after being released.
Domestically this weekend, Inside Out 2 pulled in $57.4 million. This brings its total domestically to $469.3 million. Internationally, the film brought in an impressive $108 million. This brings the international total to $545.5 million. Globally, the film has a combined total of $1.015 billion.
The film is only the 11th animated flick that has joined the $1 billion club. Eight of these come from either Disney and Pixar. It also is the first film since last summer’s blockbuster Barbie to reach this level. The success of this film is a welcome one to the entertainment industry, which had seen a less-than-stellar start to the summer at the box office. It is also a welcome one to Pixar. It has been seeking to regain its footing at the box office since the pandemic.
Inside Out2 is directed by Kelsey Mann. It continues the story of Riley, who first appeared in Inside Out, and the emotions in her head. Now 13 years old, she is a teenager and facing a new and bigger world. With these new experiences also come new emotions.
