On this day in 1928, the Mickey Mouse short ‘The Gallopin’ Gaucho’ premiered at the Mark Strand Theater in New York City. It was animated by Ub Iwerks, who co-directed with Walt Disney. ‘The Gallopin’ Gaucho’ was a parody of the Douglas Fairbanks film, ‘The Gaucho.’ It would become the second Mickey cartoon.
